  • Xanga...it's not you...it's me...

Well, okay, maybe it is a little bit you.  But still mostly me!!!  I swear.  I haven't been on this site much, because...I'll be honest...I've found another blog site.  YES I SAID IT!  Foreshame!  I never thought I'd find another blog community, but wordpress has me by the neck with all of its crazy customization, and stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I still love you xanga...I was just wondering if we could be friends?  In air of wordpress, and my professional life starting to take off, and everyone knowing my wordpress blog... this means I won't be getting my xanga premium updated.  I KNOW, YOU HATE ME!!!!  But, in order to compromise, for those of you that still wish to follow me, (and I understand if some of you don't for convenience purposes), I'm going to be posting links to my new blog, and after October if you still want to follow my feed, RSS my wordpress.

Here is my link for the homepage.   http://charliwarli.wordpress.com/

  • A little too close for comfort....

I've been reading more lately, looking into things a lot more lately, getting my feet wet if you will.
I've been seeing things that cause great discomfort with me, mostly related to the H1N1 virus, as well as the vaccinations for it and just vaccinations in general.  This is something that has scared even my MOTHER into getting both the regular flu shot, as well as the H1N1 shot for my sister, which bother me horribly, because she used to just say it was stupid, there was no point.
I tried talking to her, telling her, "mom, more people die from the regular flu than swine flu," but she still kept telling me I should get the shot.  When I refused she had a worried sound to her voice, which only made me more pissed off about this whole thing.

Check it out people, this isn't the US, but it's too damn close for comfort, watch both videos, they're extremely informative.

It really does make you think....is it the swine flu that's the pandemic?  Or is it just a clever distraction for something else.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.

  • Interships and Jobs for the Future...

    I'm a senior in college.

Boy that sort of freaks me out just to say....

It certainly doesn't help that I've chosen a field that is damn near impossible to get into.  I'm in the first Portfolio class for my school, and am graduating next quarter, I've started going to my career advisor, I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row now while I still can.

I'm starting to feel panic set in.  That anxious feeling that makes me want to run around in circles and do everything other than what I have to, just so I don't have to think about school.  But then I freak out and try to do nothing but think about school... it's a cycle that is quite vicious.  I keep taking deep breaths, and since it's the beginning of the quarter, I'm trying to start setting up myself to pace myself throughout the quarter.  I have 4 classes this quarter, since I failed one of them last quarter, so that I can still graduate on time. (Deep breath....deep breath...)

I'm so ready to be done that it's starting to drive me a little crazy.

I've decided to cut my hours during the school week so that I can work my ass off, and pretty much work all weekend long to make up for it.  I've already cut my library work hours to twice a week, giving me 16 hours per paycheck, and I'll be cutting my theater work hours to Saturday and Sunday only, and see if I can pick up doubles for those two days, and possibly a couple of days during the week when I feel up to it.  People are always getting rid of shifts at my job, which makes me happy, because I can pretty much work anything.  I'm just hoping this plan doesn't wear me too thin... it's a full quarter, and it's all of the classes that are heavy work loads, so I'll be doing late nights, drinking 5 hour energy shots and other assorted things just to keep me going.

It'll be incredibly unhealthy....but I don't really have much of a choice when I need to be awake for long periods of time.

    Wish me luck!

  • Ohhh Earth Day...

Okay, so I understand the purpose of Earth Day. To celebrate our mother Earth, and give her a day off from baby sitting us obnoxious brats by using less energy and such...but does anyone else just think it's silly that we have to have a designated day to "celebrate" our planet?
Why can't every day be "Earth Day"?
    What do you think?

  • Do Androids Read From Electronic Book Readers?

Just touching on a subject that was in a pulse from harmony0stars.  she posted a link to a Sci Fi wire article (here's the link, scifiwire), that talked about how the people that purchased books on the ebook reader the kindle, had had copies of their Orson Wells books, Animal Farm and 1984 taken off of their ereaders, and had their money refunded to them.

Now, I'm not a huge advocate for an ebook reader myself, but that does in fact suck.  There was an updated article on the matter (here's the link, betanews), which discusses exactly why Amazon did what they did.  Reading the comments for both of these articles is a must, they're pretty good, and in both cases make decent cases for either side of the dilema.  I know these are both fairly old articles, but hey, when a subject strikes you to write, you do it.

Me personally, no matter what, nothing beats the feel of the pages beneath your fingers, that amazing new or old book smell, either will do.  There's just something euphoric about it.  Personally, I've always been a bookworm, and I can't imagine being able to curl up with any ebook reader like I can a book, I could also imagine getting headaches from the light coming off of the screen.

I will admit, however, that for those that are constantly on the go, they would be far more conveinient than a book, because you can carry more than one, without compromising the space, leaving room for other things to travel with, but I don't travel, at least, I don't go anywhere that a book isn't perfectly suitable to take with me, which means, I don't need one.
